What we do

Finish carpentry in Metro Detroit.

Baseboards, casing, crown, wainscot, doors, and built-ins. Tight miters, scribed corners, no caulk hiding bad cuts.

About the work

The detail that makes a room look right.

Finish carpentry is the trim and millwork stage of a build: the baseboards, casing, crown moulding, wainscoting, doors, and built-ins that frame a room and turn rough construction into a finished space. It is the work you actually see and run your hand along, so it is judged up close and in daylight. A tight miter, a scribed corner, and an even reveal read as quality; a gap filled with caulk reads as a shortcut. In Metro Detroit, where a Grosse Pointe colonial full of original millwork and a new Troy build call for very different trim, finish carpentry is where a project stops looking half-done and starts looking intentional.

Apex Construxive treats finish carpentry as the payoff at the end of the job, not an afterthought. We cut tight miters, scribe to walls and floors that are rarely plumb or level (especially in older Detroit-area homes), and match existing trim profiles as closely as the stock allows so new work blends with the original character. From a full run of baseboard and crown to hanging interior doors, building wainscoting, or fitting closet build-ins, it is careful, measured work by the same owner-led crew that handled the rest of your remodel. Luis is on the site, so the finish that frames your room is held to the standard he set at the walk-through.

Finish carpentry questions

Finish carpentry, answered.

What does finish carpentry include?

Finish carpentry is the trim and detail work you see and touch: baseboards, door and window casing, crown moulding, wainscoting and wall paneling, interior door hanging, closet shelving, and built-ins. It is the layer that frames a room, so it gets tight miters, scribed corners, and clean reveals rather than caulk covering bad cuts.

Can you match existing trim in an older home?

Yes. Older Metro Detroit homes often have trim profiles you cannot buy off the shelf. We match existing casing and baseboard as closely as the profile allows and scribe to walls that are no longer plumb, so new trim blends with the original character instead of announcing itself.

Do you install interior doors and hardware?

Yes. We hang interior doors, set the jambs plumb, and install the hardware so the door swings true, latches cleanly, and holds an even reveal all the way around. We also case the opening so the door and its trim read as one finished piece.

Do you build closets and built-ins?

Yes. Closet shelving and built-ins are part of finish carpentry, and they pair naturally with a bath or kitchen refresh. We build closet systems and built-in units to fit the actual space, scribed to the walls and level regardless of how out-of-square the room is, then finish them to blend with the rest of the trim.
