What we do
Framing & drywall in Metro Detroit.
Partitions, soffits, and bulkheads framed square. Hang, tape, mud, sand to Level 5. Patches that disappear under primer.
About the work
Straight walls, seamless surfaces.
Framing and drywall is the structural and surface layer that shapes a room: the wood or metal studs that define where a wall stands, and the gypsum board that gets hung, taped, mudded, and sanded into the flat surface you paint. It is the bones and the skin of every interior remodel. Get the framing out of square and every trade after it fights the mistake; leave the drywall seams telegraphing and no amount of good paint hides it. In Metro Detroit, that means reconfiguring layouts in older homes with settled framing and closing up walls cleanly in newer builds, then finishing the surface so it reads as one flat plane.
Apex Construxive frames and finishes as one crew, which is where a lot of the quality comes from. We build new interior partitions, soffits, and bulkheads square, hang the board, and then tape, mud, and sand it ourselves, up to a Level 5 skim coat on the walls that catch hard light. Because we also handle patch and repair (water damage, holes, old doorways closed up), we make those repairs vanish under primer instead of flashing back through the paint months later. Luis is on the site the whole time, so the wall that looks straight at rough-in still looks straight after it's painted and trimmed.

What's in scope
Interior partitions, soffits, bulkheads, and full drywall: hang, tape, mud, and sand to a Level 5 finish where it matters. We frame new walls for remodels, close up openings, and make patches disappear under primer, so the next trade shows up to a flat, square, ready surface.
- Interior wall framing
- Drywall hang, tape, mud, sand
- Level 5 skim coat
- Patch + repair (water damage, holes)
- Soffits, bulkheads, drop ceilings
- Closing up old doorways + openings
Framing & drywall questions
Framing & drywall, answered.
What is a Level 5 drywall finish?
Level 5 is the highest standard drywall finish: taped and mudded joints plus a full skim coat of compound over the entire surface. It hides fastener and seam telegraphing under critical lighting and glossy paint. We finish to Level 5 where it matters, like walls that catch raking light from a big window.
Can you frame a new interior wall for a remodel?
Yes. We frame new interior partitions to divide or reconfigure a space, build soffits and bulkheads to hide mechanicals, and close up openings from old doorways or windows. Because the same crew frames and then hangs and finishes the drywall, the new wall lines up flat and ready for tape without a handoff.
Do you repair water-damaged or holed drywall?
Yes. Patch and repair is part of what we do, from a doorknob hole to a section cut out after a plumbing leak. We cut back to sound material, back the patch properly, then tape, mud, and sand so the repair disappears under primer instead of flashing through the paint later. Smaller one-off patches also fall under touch-ups and handyman.
Do you build soffits, bulkheads, and drop ceilings?
Yes. Soffits, bulkheads, and drop ceilings are part of the framing-and-drywall scope. They hide ductwork, plumbing, and beams, and they define a kitchen or basement ceiling. We frame them square, hang and finish the drywall, and hand off a clean surface ready for paint or trim.
